The position of Director of Service Operations has been established to oversee and manage the daily operations of the Service Division, ensuring effective scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control. This position manages Project Managers/Estimators and the Superintendent, maintains customer relationships, and ensures operational excellence in alignment with National Electric Works’ specified objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Operations Management
- Directly manage and oversee Project Managers and the Superintendent within the Service Division to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day service operations including scheduling, dispatch, workforce allocation, and job assignments.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and proactively implement solutions to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of service projects, managing workload distribution effectively among service personnel.
- Review job cost reports, budgets, and manpower allocation regularly to optimize project profitability and ensure department financial goals are met.
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Project Managers/Estimators and the Superintendent.
- Conduct regular meetings with service personnel to review operational issues, job progress, performance metrics, and safety compliance.
- Establish clear performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations of team members, ensuring accountability and professional growth.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for key customers, maintaining strong client relationships through consistent communication and reliable service delivery.
- Address customer concerns effectively, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.
- Drive effective relationship building in the Service Team among all team members including Project Managers, Estimators, Superintendent and Field team.
Business Process and Improvement
- Develop and implement operational processes that improve efficiency, productivity, and quality within the Service Division.
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes, ensuring alignment with National Electric Works' overall strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the Vice President and senior leadership team to set operational targets, objectives, and performance indicators.
Safety and Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture within the service team, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Oversee safety audits and address any identified safety issues promptly.
Financial Oversight
- Review and approve financial expenditures related to projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and profitability goals.
- Provide accurate forecasting for future manpower, equipment needs, and budget planning.
- Participate in regular meetings of the Strategic Planning team and provide input on the company budgeting process to help determine financial goals and market objectives.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical operations management, project management, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory or management experience in electrical service operations required.
- Strong understanding of electrical service work, including tenant improvements, emergency calls, maintenance, and small construction projects.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills required.
- Proficient with job costing, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, HCAI (OSHPD) and local building codes required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Standard office environment with frequent visits to job sites. The individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally may have to lift boxes containing project materials or documentation (typically 20 pounds or less). SALARY RANGE
The salary range for the Director of Service Operations position at National Electric Works in San Diego, CA, is $160,246 to $184,897 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. (inclusive of car allowance, Fuel Card, Health Insurance, PTO and Specific Paid Holidays)
